This four-day tour will bring you to Sapa, a destination of “cultural authenticity” where you can easily see many ethnic minorities such as Tay, Red Dao, H’Mong gathers at daily markets; And “natural tranquility” with hundreds of terrace rice paddies and mountain. Travelling to Sapa, you will earn a great opportunity to meet and chat with the ethnic people at their house, spending time with them to learn about their history, culture and lifestyle.

Day 1:   Transfer to Train station in Hanoi and take the night train to Sapa

Day 2:   A full day discovery special markets in Sapa

Day 3:   Full day tour visiting to ethnic villages. Night train back to Hanoi

Day 4:   Pickup at Hanoi train station


Enjoy your day free at leisure till the late evening, you be met at your hotel in Hanoi and transferred to Train station for the night train to Sapa. You will spend your tonight in a private cabin with soft berths

At early morning, arrival in Lao Cai train station, you will be met and transferred to a nice hotel in Sapa for breakfast and store the luggage. After breakfast, you will be guided for a visiting to a market frequented by ethnic minority peoples.

**The trips to tribal markets will be depending on your travel date to Sapa.

  • Tuesday: Coc Ly or Ban Cam market
  • Wednesday: Cao Son market
  • Thursday: Lung Khau Nhin market
  • Saturday: Can Cau Market, Pha Long Market
  • Sunday: Bac Ha, Muong Hum or Muong Khuong market.

In the afternoon, you’ll return to Lao Cai and continue your journey into the mountains to Sapa, a small town perched on the mountainside opposite Mt. Fan Si Pan, Vietnam’s highest peak. You’ll arrive with time to relax and stroll around the town. You’ll spend the night in a Sapa hotel with good mountain views. Although it’s quite a long drive, the landscape is attractive and the ethnic markets are a fascinating experience. Unlike those in the tourist areas, the markets that we choose are for not only for buying and selling, but are also meeting places for ethnic minority people to meet and exchange news. There will be plenty of color and authentic costumes, but very little to buy as souvenirs unless you want to barter for a water buffalo or a sack of fertilizer. You will spend tonight at a hotel in Sapa Town.

Meals: Breakfast / Lunch


After breakfast at hotel, you will depart from Sapa transfer by road uphill along the national road to the Silver Waterfall (takes about 30 minutes). Here you can enjoy the beauty of this wonder of nature, walk up the steps to high elevation for marvelous scenery of the surrounding nature: Walled-up Mountain covered by thick rain forest and deep valley dotted with terraced paddies. Continue the road trip for some kilometers further to Heaven Gate and Tram Ton Pass. At 2684m above sea level, the Heaven Gate & Tram Ton Pass is the highest mountain pass in Vietnam. From here enjoy walking around for an hour for beautiful scenery of both two side of Hoang Lien Son mountain range.

You will then leave the Heaven Gate for the way back downhill 7 km, then stop to pay visiting to some lush farm in O Quy Ho where different kind of vegetable, flower, fruit trees and even medicinal plants are grown for years which makes this part of Sapa ever green. After that, transfer back to Sapa for a nice lunch at local restaurant in town.

In the afternoon, you will drive for 12km southwards and uphill the Den Thang Mountain. Enjoy several stops for marvelous landscapes of Hoang Lien mountain range and Muong Hoa valley before arriving to a small hamlet of village which sits at 1,572m high and overlooking down the Muong Hoa valley. Here you leave the vehicle for an easy walk to explore this charming hamlet of the Black Hmong with lots traces of the past sifting lifestyle of the Hmong. Then follow the large village path gradually downhill along the stunning valley of Sa Seng, passing several hamlets of the Sa Seng and Sau Chua villages along the way which are organized in typical way of the Hmong dwelling,: Wooden roofed houses surrounded by rock-wall where pot-belly pigs, chickens, water buffaloes running here and there and children entertaining themselves with their own games and toys. There are chances to see Hmong women making fiber from hemp, spinning, weaving to make traditional costumes.

After that, you will return to Sapa and have rest of day free at leisure till transfer to Lao Cai station for the overnight train to Hanoi.
